Media Release – Book Publishers Association of Alberta Launches Your Alberta Story Campaign

Edmonton— What is Your Alberta Story? Alberta has a unique cultural heritage and identity. What part have you played in creating the vibrant and diverse province we all call home?

During the 2023 election campaign, when we all come together to choose who will represent us, the Book Publishers Association of Alberta will also be collecting micro-stories from Albertans to celebrate our unique Alberta Story together.

Specifically, we have asked candidates in the Alberta Election to submit their stories. They will be highlighted on our website, alongside other Albertans’ stories.

Alberta book publishers play a vital role in telling Alberta’s Story, both at home and around the world. With over 30 companies, it is one of the strongest communities of regional publishers in North America, producing books by local, national, and international authors.

Alberta book publishers create roughly 115 full-time jobs and nearly $7.5 million in wages and salaries, and contribute over $14 million annually to the provincial economy. The economic impact is 92 cents for every dollar, as compared to only 74 cents and 87 cents for the sound recording and motion picture industries.
