Media Release – 2026 Alberta Book Publishing Awards Shortlist Announced

Edmonton – The Book Publishers Association of Alberta (BPAA) is pleased to announce the shortlist for the 2026 Alberta Book Publishing Awards. The following shortlist represents the finest of Alberta book publishing as determined by leading professionals in the book industry from across Canada and showcases the wide range of books published each year in Alberta.
This year, jurors evaluated 90 submissions from Alberta book publishers across 14 different categories. The BPAA will also be awarding the Lifetime Achievement in Alberta Publishing Award to two individuals whose contributions have positively shaped the Alberta book publishing industry through their leadership, commitment to excellence, and steadfast belief in the importance of Alberta stories.
The winners of the 2026 Alberta Book Publishing Awards will be announced at a gala reception at the Matrix Hotel in Edmonton on Thursday, September 17, 2026. The gala is open to the public, and more information on how to purchase tickets will be shared on the BPAA website in mid-July. Leading up to the gala, the featured categories and shortlisted titles will be highlighted on Facebook, Instagram, and Bluesky.
