Edmonton – The Book Publishers Association of Alberta is pleased to announce the release of the 2024/25 Alberta Books for Schools catalogue and updated online database. Now in its third year, the catalogue is a resource designed for educators, libraries, and booksellers to discover Alberta-published, curriculum-mapped books. This edition of the catalogue features over 65 titles, and the digital database has been expanded to include 193 titles. All titles in the collection include grade levels and curriculum connections provided by The Alberta Library.
With the intention of reducing our carbon footprint, this year’s catalogue is only available digitally as a downloadable PDF and through the online database at ABBooksForSchools.ca. Consideration has been taken to ensure the digital catalogue and search functionality of the database is accessible for all users. In addition to these changes, the 2024/25 catalogue features an Alberta rose icon, which indicates titles with Alberta contributors to help educators find and support local authors.
“Alberta Books for Schools continues to be a vital resource connecting educators to quality, Alberta-published resources for the classroom. The updates to our catalogue and online database have made it easier for educators to find the right titles for their classroom,” says Kieran Leblanc, Executive Director of the Book Publishers Association of Alberta. “This growing resource showcases the contributions of Alberta publishers to the education sector in a sustainable, accessible way.”
The digital catalogue is distributed each fall to Alberta schools, libraries, and booksellers; Canadian library wholesalers, teachers’ associations; and other industry stakeholders. Sign up for our distribution list to be the first to hear about new additions and other supplemental resources!
Thank you to our funders for their continued support to make this project possible, in particular the Alberta government through the Alberta Media Fund and the Department of Canadian Heritage through the Canada Book Fund.
