Pishtaco
Lord of the Lost Inca Gold
EDGE Science Fiction and Fantasy Publishing
A previously institutionalized mathematician, Penelope Augusta Gertrude Farquhar, who suffers from schizophrenia, sets on a quest to find the lost city of Paititi, Peru, to destroy the evil shaman, Pishtaco, who has amassed the lost Inca gold of Atahualpa, and rules there.
Along the way she finds herself trapped in the Amazon rain forest with voices in her head, which have materialized as human beings. These manifestations are in the form of historical characters that she has read about while she was institutionalized —René, Ada Lovelace, Ernest, Billy Bowlegs, Belle Starr, and Cécile Fatiman.
Throughout her quest she interacts with the tribal people of the Amazon rain forest, as well as the pantheon of Inca gods and goddesses.
