Alberta Book Publishers Celebrate Eighth Annual Alberta Book Day

Edmonton – The members of the Book Publishers Association of Alberta (BPAA) wish to thank the Alberta Government and Minister Tanya Fir for declaring November 3, 2025, as the eighth annual Alberta Book Day. Recognized each November, Alberta Book Day is an annual celebration of our local book publishing industry.

Alberta book publishers operate in communities both large and small throughout the province. They work with authors, editors, designers, printers, and other creative professionals to bring Alberta stories to life and amplify the unique cultural identity and heritage of our province to a much larger audience. Through their work, our province’s book publishers, all of which are Alberta-owned and -operated small businesses, create roughly 100 full-time jobs and nearly $6 million in wages and salaries, contributing over $14 million annually to the provincial economy.

“Alberta Book Day is an opportunity to reflect on the persistence, resilience, and commitment of local book publishers in telling our province’s stories,” said Megan Bishop, Executive Director of the BPAA. “It is essential to invest in and support the Alberta book publishing industry to ensure that stories that reflect our regional voices, themes, and landscapes remain available to readers and learners of all ages.”

Alberta book publishers will be gathering at the Alberta Legislature today to display their books and meet with MLAs and government staff. Readers can join in the celebration by posting about their favourite Alberta-published book using the hashtag #ABBookDay and tagging @WeReadAB.
