The Book Publishers Association of Alberta is pleased to announce the upcoming webinar entitled Greening Your Publishing, presented by Jen Knoch and EJ Hurst.

Jen Knoch of ECW Press and EJ Hurst of New Society Publishers will provide an introduction to assessing your organization’s most important emissions sources, including production and shipping, focusing on using carbon calculation tools and putting your emissions in context. The session will include a presentation as well as time for discussion. 

This event is free and limited to members of the BPAA. Please register to reserve your spot by 4:30 pm MT on Wednesday, March 12. A recording of the webinar will be available for those who are unable to attend live.

EJ Hurst (she/her) is the Sales Manager and Sustainability Lead at New Society Publishers in British Columbia, Canada. With her team at New Society, she has helped lead the way to a more sustainable publishing path through certification and standards. New Society Publishers is a registered B Corporation, has approved Science Based Targets and is climate neutral throughout their operations. She most recently collaborated with ECW Press to create a set of sustainable publishing tools including a book carbon footprint calculator and a publisher’s carbon footprint calculator which will be provided free of charge to all Canadian publishers.

Jen Knoch (she/her) is a senior editor and sustainability officer at ECW, where she has worked since 2008. Outside of work, she is a climate and food security activist and writes the newsletter Five Minutes for the Planet.
