Media Release – 2025 Alberta Book Publishing Awards Now Accepting Submissions

Edmonton – The Book Publishers Association of Alberta (BPAA) is now accepting submissions for the 2025 Alberta Book Publishing Awards.

Established in 1994, the Alberta Book Publishing Awards recognize and celebrate the excellence of the Alberta book publishing industry. The awards are adjudicated by experts and publishing professionals from across Canada, who evaluate the submissions based on the entire book publishing process— from acquisitions, editing, and marketing to book design. The very best examples of Alberta publishing will be recognized in up to 16 award categories.

The awards are open to all Alberta-owned and -controlled publishers, and nominated books must have been published between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024. Submissions will be accepted until February 28, 2025. For more information on the awards submissions, eligibility, and process, please visit the Alberta Book Publishing Awards webpage

The winners of the 2025 Alberta Book Publishing Awards will be announced at an awards gala, tentatively scheduled for September 18, 2025 in Calgary. Further details will follow in the coming months.

2025 is also the year of the BPAA’s 50th anniversary, and this significant milestone will be acknowledged at the gala. “The awards gala has always been a celebration of the Alberta book publishing industry,” says Kieran Leblanc, Executive Director of the BPAA. “We’re excited to highlight the association’s contributions to the industry, as well as the ongoing resiliency of Alberta book publishers, during the event this year.”
