Media Release – 2021 Alberta Book Publishing Awards Winners Announced
Edmonton – The Book Publishers Association of Alberta is pleased to announce the winners of the 2021 Alberta Book Publishing Awards.
We were excited to present two new award categories this year, Graphic Novel of the Year and Regional Book of the Year. The Graphic Novel of the Year category recognizes a unique and specialized form of book publishing and was awarded to Renegade Arts Entertainment for Awkward Pause by Ryan Harby. Regional Book of the Year celebrates books that exemplify unique perspectives of Alberta. The debut winner was Frontenac House Ltd. for Borderlands by Mark Vitaris.
This year we presented the Centre for Equitable Library Access and the National Network for Equitable Library Service with Special Achievement in Publishing Awards. Both of these organizations provide equitable access to books for all Canadians and provide guidance in accessible publishing.
Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to our production company, Modern Muse, for once again producing a phenomenal virtual presentation. If you missed the livestream, the awards presentation is available to view on the BPAA YouTube Channel. We look forward to next year’s awards and the continued growth of the Alberta book publishing industry.
