Media Release: March-April Alberta Reads Book Club Title
Posted .
Edmonton – The Book Publishers Association of Alberta (BPAA) is pleased to announce the next Alberta Reads Book Club title – Exhibit by Paul Zits, published by the University of Calgary Press. The video announcement can be viewed here.
Paul Zits reaches into the archives to tell the forgotten true story of Margaret McPhail. Accused of murdering her brother in a small shack outside Drumheller, Alberta, she maintained her innocence throughout, claiming Alex died by suicide despite multiple bullet wounds to his head and chest. Full of gorgeous, unsettling imagery, Exhibit is a work of beautiful collage poetry, a piece of Alberta history, and a challenge to the ways we have learned to consume murder.
Over the course of March and April, readers will have the chance to participate in online book club discussions over Facebook, Twitter, or through the Alberta Reads webpage. Further book club events, questions and programming will be announced in the following weeks.
We encourage Albertans to purchase a copy of Exhibit from their local independent bookstore. Additionally, Alberta public library patrons can borrow book club titles as eBooks for free using ReadAlbertaeBooks.ca.
Find book club questions, author and publisher information, and details on future Alberta Reads Book Club titles by visiting the Alberta Reads Book Club webpage. Join the ongoing conversation by following #ABreads and #ABbooks on social media.
