Indigenous Mentorship Program

Do you want to know how to publish books?

Consider a one-week residency, available to Indigenous candidates.
Applications are currently being accepted on an ongoing basis.

Our strong desire is to work with Indigenous people who have a real interest in publishing as a potential career choice. Do you see yourself as an editor or marketing professional? Do you envision creating a brand-new publishing company?

In this one-week residency, an Indigenous person works with an Alberta publishing company to exchange knowledge and ideas. The idea is to learn from one another and, longer term, to work with Indigenous communities as they continue to build their book publishing knowledge and capacity.

Participants receive $500 to cover time and expenses.

Member publishers are primarily based in Calgary, Edmonton, and Canmore, though remote opportunities are available.

Apply directly to the BPAA via mail or email with a cover letter and resume.

  • Tell us how a residency would fit with your life goals.
  • Indicate your Indigenous heritage.
  • Individuals must be over 20 years old.
